The demand for teeth whitening (a.k.a. bleaching) is high—even among orthodontic patients. In a nationwide survey, nearly 90% of AAO orthodontists said they had patients who requested teeth whitening. Many patients want to know, “Can I bleach my teeth with braces on?”
Teeth Whitening With Braces
At Dougherty Orthodontics, we offer whitening with Opalescence Go while your braces are still on. Opalescence Go is a professional teeth whitening system; it is not available over-the-counter. We will give you the pre-filled disposable trays to take home and use right out of the package. Wear them with your braces once a day for 5-10 days, and you’re done. Then you can enjoy your beautifully white smile with braces!
Can I Bleach My Teeth After Braces?
Yes! Teeth whitening procedures can also be done after your braces are taken off. Here at Dougherty Orthodontics, we offer Opalescence take-home whitening gel. This option is available to patients during Invisalign treatment. It is also a good whitening option at the completion of braces or Invisalign treatment. This gel is applied within our clear retainers that act as custom bleaching trays! The whitening gel is super convenient. You can choose from a variety of strengths and flavors, and it’s easy to fit the at-home treatment into your busy schedule. You can wear it overnight or during the daytime, for as little as 15 minutes at a time.
It’s really up to you whether you want to whiten your teeth before or after your braces are removed–or before or after your Invisalign treatment is complete. No matter what you decide, we have options for you, and we’re here to guide you through the process.
