Last month we held our annual Hygiene Night event to celebrate the importance of oral hygiene and to provide continuing education for St. Louis hygienists. Thanks to the 30 hygienists who attended as well as our featured speaker, George J. Martinez, the event was a big success! In case you missed it, we’ve put together some information on the importance of hygiene and some tips for implementing the most current hygiene practices in your dental office.
Importance of Oral Hygiene
Good hygiene practices are extremely important to overall dental and oral health. Even though they work in dental offices, not in orthodontic offices, hygienists play a vital role in keeping patients’ teeth clean, healthy, and protected during orthodontic treatment. An orthodontist relies on hygienists to help give her patients a beautiful and healthy smile. This is why events like Hygiene Night are so important.
Tips for Promoting Preventive Therapy: CaMBRA
At Hygiene Night, 3M Regional Preventative Specialist George J. Martinez presented valuable information on how to prevent caries (cavities), what to look for in high-risk patients, and how to promote preventive therapy in the dental office. He specifically gave advice on implementing Caries Management by Risk Assessment (CaMBRA). CaMBRA is an evidenced-based approach to preventing or treating dental caries at the earliest stages. Helpful tips and tools to assist you in implementing CaMBRA in your office are available on 3M’s website.
